I'm aiming to become a Digital Compositor. I love to learn, and expand my knowledge as I'm very ambitious and always ready to take on new challenges. Since I was a child, I was always fascinated about movies and did everything to learn all about this world. I was just ten years old when I had my first experience using software for VFX and video editing and I decided this would be my future.
GET TO KNOW LUCA
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB TO START YOUR CAREER WITH?
I have no doubt, I want to become a Roto/Prep Artist or a Junior Compositor.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I'm passionate about photography and I self-studied both the technical and the artistic sides. I enjoy practicing and learning about cameras and lenses, just for the fun of it. Also, cooking is in my heritage so it is a must for me.
WHAT THREE THINGS WOULD YOU TAKE TO A DESERT ISLAND?
Some film reels, an old camera and a projector... there would be plenty of time to learn how to comp.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
In five years, I’d definitely like to be seen as a Mid/Senior Comper with expertise that would allow me to take on more managerial responsibilities including being the Lead Compositor on projects.
WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES?
My strengths? A wide knowledge of image processing, strong technical skills, and a deep passion for cinema, photography and technology. My weaknesses? I need to keep things under control, that's why I always keep up with hard work.
DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE VFX SEQUENCE.
I love the sequece in Gravity with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock when the high-speed space debris strikes the shuttle. Extremely long zero-G shots, a minimalist set with full CG environment and almost full CG characters, post stereo conversion, a previz of the entire movie done before shooting, right down to the "time spent by the compositors putting breath on the visors" (visual effects supervisor Tim Webber). Combining all of this, plus the great photography and sound design, make this section of Gravity one of my most beloved VFX sequence.
WHY DO YOU DESERVE A GREATER SHARE IN THE YEAR
I personally think that sometimes facts count more than words, therefore my showreel is the answer to this question.
