Being surrounded with all things geeky from a young age, some of my fondest memories growing up were made possible through the art of visual effects. From Endor to Asgard, otherworldly and exciting environments inspired my enthusiasm for the art and I couldn’t imagine a career doing anything else. My time at Escape (when not idling about saving the galaxy from Reapers) was well-spent studying the skills and knowledge to one day enter the field of Digital Compositing and Matte Painting where I hope to be able to work on many future projects.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy photography. Going out with my camera and seeing what I can capture when looking through a lens has really shaped the way I see the world. I’m also an avid gamer and love nothing more than immersing myself in games, such as Mass Effect, for hours on end.

What three things would you take to a desert island? and why?

- A bottle of red wine

- Hounds of Love vinyl 12" album by Kate Bush

- The novelisation of the entire Star Wars saga

All of the above are items that are essential in maintaining a happy life. I wouldn’t survive long but I would enjoy it.

What job position would excite you the most to start your career with?

For me, starting my career with a role in digital matte painting would absolutely be the most exciting thing. I just think it's amazing how you can completely transform a landscape and create an environment that is totally surreal.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

The achievement that I am by far the proudest of is completing my degree. I have grown so much throughout the past three years. Although sometimes things seemed overwhelming, I see now that this stage in my life has been one of the most special and I will cherish it.

Would you rather be a wizard, Jedi or superhero? and why?

A JEDI. They are basically the perfect blend of a wizard and a superhero. I would also finally be able to create the lightsaber that I've been dreaming of since childhood (something which I’ve given extensive thought).

Which movie inspired you the most to choose this career path?

However cliché it may be, 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'A New Hope' have both been huge influences on my VFX journey. In my opinion they are timeless. The profound effect they had on the world of visual effects has given them a legacy that will always inspire me.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

Meeting and working with peers who share the same love and passion for VFX.
