I am a student Animator with a passion for creature animation. I enjoy studying nature and trying to replicate the behaviour patterns and movements of different animals. I studied 3D animation but enjoy the challenge of 2D and I am trying to improve upon that skill during my free time. I also have a passion for teaching and have been a swimming teacher for over 5 years now so, after working in the industry and gaining experience, I would be interested in pursuing a teaching career. In an ideal world my career start would be to work in a 2D studio.

If you were an animal, which one would you be? and why?

I would be a sea turtle as I love the ocean and travelling. An interesting fact is that the females always lay their eggs on the same beach where they hatched. I’m close with my family and I know that, even with travelling, I will make time to see them.

What three things would you take to a desert island? and why?

I would take a solar powered portable charger, a wireless speaker and a phone with nothing but my music playlist and the film 'Hitch' on it. I love music so would need that and 'Hitch' may not be the best film ever, but I can happily watch it on repeat.

What job position would excite you the most to start your career with?

I would love to start my career in a smaller studio as I think that working closely with those more experienced than me would help me to progress as an Animator more quickly. Ideally that would be in a 2D studio, but I am excited to learn either way.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

I left sixth form in Year 12 so didn’t have the necessary grades for university. So instead I taught myself how to model, rig and animate a character which enabled me to attend Escape Studios where I was also shortlisted for a scholarship.

Which animated movie inspired you the most to choose this career path?

I grew up watching Disney, so that definitely played a big part in my love for animation. But the film that I clearly remember watching and instantly wanting to know how they did it was ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. Everything about that film amazed me, the character designs, how atmospheric the final fight scene was and who wouldn’t want a pet Dragon!

If your life was a movie what would it be?

My life would be ‘Are We There Yet?’. I have taken a pretty long route to get to this stage, one with multiple job roles and career paths, but I am finally on my way to working in the animation industry. Probably not as cool as Ice Cube though.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

It was in the second year, when we studied creature animation, I remember instantly enjoying the whole process of researching animals and studying their movement to then replicate that in 3D. Which was then topped by the feeling of seeing my leopard walking on my screen and looking somewhat alive.
