I'm Jamie Stokes, a 3D Artist with 4 years experience studying a range of disciplines with a focus on FX and rendering. With experience across the VFX pipeline, I am looking for entry level 3D roles to get my first studio experience while continuing to learn and develop my skills on the way to becoming an FX Artist.

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Versatile, Diligent, Honest, Reliable, Personable.

What three things would you take to a desert island? and why?

A fishing rod to learn to catch food with while also relaxing, a paddleboard to explore some deeper water and some rum so I can fully enjoy the island lifestyle.

What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

My biggest strengths are my ability to problem solve and work alongside people, working best in team settings where I can trade ideas with others and learn from them. One weakness I have worked on is my organisation, learning to prioritise tasks, ensuring everything gets done to fit a schedule.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I'd love to have made it into a Mid-Level FX Artist position in a studio, working in film or advertising, having gained valuable industry experience working in an entry level position, and as a junior FX artist, having learned from experienced artists about how to grow and develop my skills.

Would you rather be a wizard, Jedi or superhero? and why?

I'd say Jedi. Their ability to stay calm and logical while wielding the power of the world around them is inspiring, plus you can't beat the elegance of a lightsaber.

Describe your favorite VFX sequence.

It's tough but I think the water FX work in the 'Pirates' films is incredible, especially the Maelstrom battle in 'World's End', with the two ships circling each other in torrential rain; the combination of practical and digital effects is phenomenal.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

It has to be directing and working on this last project with an amazing team. It feels like the coming together of all of our best work to date and, personally, the success of this project has made me even more confident and excited to continue my career in VFX.
