Hi, I’m Lily. During my time at Escape Studios, I’ve developed the necessary technical and creative skills to support my ambition as a Roto / Prep Artist. It is a dream of mine to work in film and episodic television, and I’ve had some amazing experiences both personally and professionally within visual effects so far. I’m looking forward to what the wider industry has to offer!

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Empathetic, creative, dedicated, genuine, loyal.

What hobbies do you have?

I enjoy creating digital art using Photoshop / Procreate, everything from environments to portraits. Similarly to VFX, this is another virtual extension of a traditional medium and helps expand my knowledge of colour, composition and perspective.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Digital matte painting was what first attracted me to visual effects. Whilst it is an extremely specialised area of work, I hope in 5 years I will have a greater understanding of the techniques and methods used to achieve the outstanding environment work you see in films today.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

Being able to take on the role of supervisor and 2D Lead in my final year at Escape was a massive achievement for me. It allowed me to be more confident within myself and my work, whilst equipping me with the necessary skills for the industry.

Would you rather be a wizard, jedi or superhero and why?

Wizard. Magic has never-ending potential; anything is possible!

Describe your favourite VFX sequence.

The 'Fall of the Valkyrie' scene in 'Thor: Ragnarok' has always stood out to me. Although an incredible short sequence, it was a visually stunning piece of cinema that I'll never forget.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

Aside from all the technical stuff, my crowning moment at Escape was meeting all my peers who have helped me on my journey these past 3 years. I hope to stay in touch and wish everyone the best in their future careers!
