I am a 3D Animator finishing up my third year of studying at Escape Studios. I am inspired to tell emotionally moving, diverse and exciting stories through animation and have, over the course of my studies, learned how to be an effective, supportive and hard-working team member when making films. I would love to enter the industry as a Junior Animator and to grow my knowledge and skills both as an Animator and as a person.

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Kind, attentive, reliable, introverted and open-minded.

What hobbies do you have?

In my free time, I like to watch films and tv shows, play the piano and read. My absolute favourite pass time, however, is dancing. I have been dancing both on my own and in groups ever since I was little and nowadays I often simply put on music that I love and let it move me. Through this, I feel as though I have gained a greater understanding of rhythm and the way a body moves, which has helped me immensely when it comes to animating.

What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?

My strengths include being able to work well under pressure, communicating efficiently in groups and paying attention to detail. At the same time, however, I can also fall into being too much of a perfectionist in my work, but having strict deadlines and working within a pipeline that is reliant on my delivery always helps. Another weakness of mine that I am working on is that I can be quite insecure in my work, which occasionally can stop me from showing work and getting feedback, especially early on.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

An achievement that I am proud of is completing my three-year apprenticeship as a seamstress that I did before coming to Escape Studios and also getting an equivalent to A-Levels at the same time. Those three years came with a lot of different challenges. Learning how to exist in a professional workspace while also simultaneously having exams and homework throughout taught me a lot about how to manage my own time and how to stay focused and precise in my work.

Would you rather be a wizard, jedi or superhero and why?

If I had to pick between being a Wizard, Jedi or Superhero, then I think that I would choose to be a Wizard. I find that being a Wizard comes with a greater variety of what you can do with your powers, while Superheroes for example are tied to a specific thing they're good at and I like to have a more well-rounded skill set that I can use for a multitude of different things. I also feel as though you could generally live a far more sustainable life as a Wizard and aid the people around you in many different ways.

Describe your favourite animated sequence.

One of my favourite animated sequences came out recently in Netflix's 'Arcane' and is in episode 7 of the show. It is a very stylized fight sequence between two characters that paints a beautifully crafted parallel to when the two of them used to play fight as children. I also love that we see it first play out in slow motion and in the end see how quickly it happened. Overall I felt that it was both a visually stunning and emotionally engaging fight sequence.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

One moment that I was proud of during my three years at Escape Studios was when I took over as Lead Animator in our VFX project "Gnaughty Gnomes" halfway through the project. I was able to take over and get the Animation progress on track and help the other Animator get their shots done. In the end, we managed to finish all the shots on time with the deadline and complete a project we were proud of and that has gone on to win multiple awards.
