Hi, my name is Rahul Karavadra and I am a 2D Compositing Artist with a strong knowledge of the VFX pipeline. Whilst I started at Escape studying Animation, I fell in love with the 2D VFX module during our first year and haven’t looked back since. I enjoy bringing pieces together to build the final product. The aim is to do such a great job that the audience would never realise. After graduation, I am looking forward to working as a Junior Compositor.

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Friendly, enthusiastic, methodical, patient, dedicated.

If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?

I would be a turtle. They are a calm, confident and laid-back. They are patient and careful but as the story goes, you can be more successful doing things slow and steadily than acting quickly and carelessly.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I see myself as a Mid/Senior Compositor getting a bucket load of credits, whilst moving on to helping Junior Artists in a more leadership role.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

I am proud that I got a job at Fix FX doing roto prep whilst at university. It really helped me develop as an artist and understand how to work in a studio.

Would you rather be a wizard, jedi or superhero and why?

I would be a wizard. I have always wanted to put on the sorting hat and see what house I would be in. I am such a huge fan of Harry Potter that I even have the round glasses.

Describe your favourite VFX sequence.

The first 'Iron Man', when he tests out the suit for the first time. The HUD display combined with the animating parts on the suit were mind boggling to watch. After quite a few Google searches, I was disappointed to find out the suit wasn’t real. :(

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

Meeting talented people and making a bunch of friends throughout the three years.
