I am Grace, a 3D Artist who enjoys creating props and enviornments. I love all things stylised, mostly art that has a bit of character - The more colourful, wonky and vibrant the better! I love that Escape Studios has brought me out of my shell and taught me the skills to work well within a team and to be part of something bigger. Following my graduation, I am looking to start working in the industry as a 3D Artist making some cool assets and environments for games!

What hobbies do you have?

Some of my hobbies include DIY and baking (I love anything and everything sweet) alongside making art, playing games, watching shows and films. I enjoy creating things by following tutorials online, I love the feeling of achievement when I have made something all by myself from nothing and teaching myself a new skill! I have recently got into making things out of resin and polymer clay, I like to make mostly small charms and cute keyrings and giving them to people as gifts!

If you were an animal, which one would you be and why?

It would have to be a sloth because they are laid back, quiet, relaxed, and they get a lot of sleep which describes me perfectly!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years from now, hopefully I would have been a sucessful Junior Artist, enough to be advancing into a Mid Level Artist role. A further five years on, I would be pursuing development to becoming a Senior Artist.

What job position would excite you the most to start your career with?

I would love to work as a 3D Artist making assets and environments on a stylised game, preferably something colourful and fun to play! I also wouldn't mind a position that includes making stylised foliage as well as props and environments!

Would you rather be a wizard, jedi or superhero and why?

That's a difficult one, but I would choose to be a Wizard! Mostly because it would be cool to have a wide variation of magic, plus I could be greedy and conjure spells to have the powers and abilities of all three!

Which game inspired you the most to choose this career path and why/how?

I remember one day after work I saw the annoucement of the 'Spyro Reignited Trilogy'. The PS1 original was one of the first games I played, it was so fun! I was super nostalgic seeing the remake, I just loved everything about the style of it. I realised that I’d never considered the artistic side of games before, and who made the trees, buildings and characters. I've always been creative and enjoyed stylised games, I enjoyed digital 2D art so I thought it could be a possible career path! I started researching and learnt about the roles of Game Art - that's when I came across 3D Artists and I knew that I wanted to do it too!

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

It was a couple of weeks into my specialism module in my final year, I was learning new techniques for stylised workflows and trying to better my skillset. I was getting feedback on my work regularly as part of the project, which was helping me improve my art. I realised that I was finally starting to produce work that I was proud of!
