Hi my name is Laina and I am a budding Lighting Artist. I have an interest in reading, walking and video games. I love "Slay the Spire" and anything scifi. I hope to go into the industry as a Lighting Artist.

GET TO KNOW LAINA

What makes you unique?

I think my uniqueness mostly lays in my tenacity and ability to act weird when needed. I try not to be restricted by the expectations of those around me so I can function in ways that can surprise people but also be more beneficial in situations.

If you were an animal, which one would you be? and why?

My favourite animals are cats but I would be a sunfish. They are hardy, tall and are foolishly thought to be useless but are actually incredibly beneficial to the local environment. I mostly aspire to be the tall part but the rest is good too.

What job position would excite you the most to start your career with?

If I could start as any kind of Lighting Artist I would be happy as a lot of companies rely on Environment Artists to do their lighting on top of their other duties. I want to be able to devote myself solely to lighting.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

My biggest achievement is being honest in the way I dress. It is a small thing but because of it I have been able to build connections with strangers and people I know alike. In being myself I have had strangers run up to me on the street to talk to me and tell me they want to try to be as bold as I am. Knowing I inspire that in people is incredibly heart-warming.

Would you rather be a wizard, Jedi or superhero? and why?

A wizard. They have cool lightning powers and tall hats.

Which game or movie inspired you the most to choose this career path?

Fable 2. It was a game I grew up watching my dad play and he helped me play it when I tried it myself. I have fond memories of it and playing games with my family has been an important part of me growing up.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

Escape helped me push myself beyond what I would have done on my own. The support of my tutors and peers allowed me to become a greater and more accomplished artist.
