My name is Jack Anderson and I aspire to be a VFX Artist. I currently live in Essex and have been attending Escape Studios for the past 3 years with a part time job at a Sports Centre on the side. I have a passion for games and love to explore them in depth by discovering breakdowns on places like ArtStation and LinkedIn. I will be starting as a Junior VFX Artist in June and would like to continue this career as long as possible and make my way up to a Senior VFX Artist, then eventually to a Lead VFX Artist.

Describe yourself in 5 words.
Passionate, vigorous, motivated, tenacious and optimistic.
What three things would you take to a desert island and why?
A fishing rod so I can acquire food.
A sleeping bag so I don't have to sleep on a bed of rocks and crabs.
A friend so I am not alone.
What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
My biggest strengths are that I take in feedback well and I am determined to get things done on time. My biggest weaknesses are that I can be a little forgetful on some of the simpler things, but I always note things down to give myself a reminder when that time arrives.
What job position would excite you the most to start your career with?
I would love to one day become a Lead VFX Artist and lead a team.
Describe a challenge that you had to overcome in your group projects.
We have had a team member who wasn't pulling their punches and wouldn't adjust the feedback we gave them, so in the end we made the decision as a team to redo their props because they weren't communicating with us after completing their asset list.
Which game inspired you the most to choose this career path and why/how?
"League of Legends. I have played this game since 2015, although I have slowly pulled my addiction away from it and I only play it a few times a week, it's where it all began. Playing new champions and selecting from a range of skins pulls my attention to the game with their special effects and abilities. It has been an honour to be able to involve myself in Games VFX as a career and I hope in the future I am able to make my own set of abilities using my knowledge.

What video game character best embodies you and why?
League of Legends is known for it's lore and has an amazing Netflix show called ARCANE that represents that. I feel like Ekko best embodies me because he cares about the people around him no matter who it is, but also never forgets the past friends he had and would always try to reconnect with them if he could.
What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?
The first time I achieved a First-Class in my grade for doing VFX for the first time in a games group project.
