My name is Laura Higgins and I am a VFX artist. The ability VFX has of heightening a player's experience of an environment has been extremely influential in me falling in love with the field. By developing my knowledge daily, through the use of tutorials and learning from my peers, it has allowed me to further my understanding of different workflows and thrive in a team setting. I am looking forward to getting started within the industry and cannot wait to start working within the game VFX discipline!

What are your hobbies and interests?

Other than enjoying video games, I have a love for photography, especially landscapes. I am always fascinated by the world that surrounds us all and the natural phenomenon that occur. Photos say a thousand words and can capture a moment or feeling and I enjoy bringing that to my projects.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Since the beginning of my journey as an aspiring VFX artist, I have always said that in 5 years I want to be in a lead role and pioneer new techniques in the game VFX pipeline. Through the ups and downs of life this goal has always stayed the same and is something that I strive for every day.

Tell us an achievement you're proud of.

An achievement that I am proud of is getting to the final of the Search for Star. This was my first character effect and a massive learning curve for me. It was really nice to see so many people enjoy my work and respond so positively to it as well as having suggestions on how I could improve.

Which game inspired you the most to choose this career path?

The Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC for Total War: Warhammer 2.

What video game character best embodies you?

Lara Croft.

What was your crowning moment of your time at Escape?

Finding my passion for game VFX.
